Building a home coffee bar setup completely changed my mornings. This past year for my birthday, I got the best gift I didn’t even know I needed: the Ninja Lux. And I’m not exaggerating when I say it completely changed my mornings. I used to hit snooze multiple times. Now? I actually get excited to get out of bed because I get to make coffee. It’s become part of my routine, my creative outlet, and honestly one of the coziest parts of my day. To the point where my friends and family get excited to sleep over just so they can have a morning coffee at my house. That feels like a win.
Why I Chose the Ninja Lux for My Home Coffee Bar Setup
I went back and forth for so long trying to decide what machine to get. I seriously considered a Breville. But if I’m being honest… it intimidated me.
Weighing beans. Dialing everything in perfectly. Measuring to the gram. It felt like something I had to master before I could even enjoy it. And while I appreciate that level of precision, I didn’t want my mornings to feel like a science experiment.
I already love every Ninja product I own, so when I started seeing TikToks raving about the Ninja Lux and how beginner-friendly it was, I was sold. So many people talked about how easy it was to use and how approachable it felt compared to more technical machines.
What really convinced me were the setup videos. They made everything feel simple and doable. I didn’t feel scared I was going to mess it up.
The Breville felt like something I had to “learn.”
The Ninja felt like something I could just enjoy.
And honestly? It was extremely easy to learn.

Why I Love the Ninja Lux
The best part about it is the versatility.
With it, I can make:
• A classic hot cup of coffee
• True espresso (which matters… especially for espresso martinis)
• Cold brew
• Steamed milk for cappuccinos
• Cold foam for iced drinks
• Different milk settings depending on what I’m making
It feels like having a mini coffee shop in my kitchen.
And as someone who loves testing recipes and trying new flavor combinations, having options makes it fun instead of repetitive.
The Beans Matter (Trust Me)
After testing countless beans, especially for espresso martinis, I learned: you need Arabica. Smoother, less bitter, and balanced, it gives you that rich flavor without tasting harsh.
For espresso (and martinis), I prefer a smooth, medium-to-dark roast with low acidity. A balanced roast makes a noticeable difference in flavor and crema.
If you’re investing in a coffee machine, don’t skip the beans. They truly make or break it.

My Favorite Iced Coffee Recipes at Home
I love a cozy hot cup of coffee in the winter… but my iced coffees are top contenders.
Especially because my parents gave me an ice maker for Christmas and I did not realize how much good ice matters.
The small nugget or cube style ice is elite. It doesn’t overpower the drink, chills it perfectly, and makes everything feel café-quality.
Good ice = underrated coffee upgrade.
My Go-To Coffee Recipes
Banana Iced Latte (My Current Favorite)
This one surprises everyone. It’s subtly sweet, cozy, and different in the best way.
Easy Homemade Banana Syrup Recipe:
• 1 ripe banana (mashed)
• ½ cup water
• ½ cup sugar
• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until dissolved.
- Add the banana and let simmer for about 5–10 minutes.
- Lightly mash the banana while it cooks to release flavor.
- Stir in vanilla and let cool before storing in the fridge for up to one week.
To make the latte:
• 1–2 tablespoons banana syrup
• 2 shots espresso
• Ice
• Milk of choice (I love Fairlife milk)
• Top with sweet cream cold foam (I love the Chobani Sweet Cream Creamer)
It’s elite.

Pistachio Latte (Hot or Iced)
Pistachio lattes are my FAVORITE thing to order when I’m out at cafés. So obviously, I had to recreate it at home.
I recently bought a pistachio syrup from Williams Sonoma and it is heavenly. I’ve also added pistachio cream directly into the espresso before adding milk, and it melts into this rich, nutty flavor that feels elevated.
Hot in the winter. Iced in the summer. Always elite.
Maple Cream Latte
Mix maple cream into fresh espresso and let it melt before adding milk. It feels very New England cozy and works hot or iced.
Cookie Butter Latte
Using cookie butter from Trader Joe’s is dangerous (in the best way). A spoonful melted into espresso before adding milk tastes like dessert. It’s cozy, and perfect for fall and winter.

Coffee Is Seasonal (Like Sourdough)
Just like my sourdough baking, I love rotating coffee flavors with the seasons, it keeps things creative and fun.
Fall:
• Pumpkin butter from Trader Joe’s
• Cookie butter lattes
• Maple cream
• Espresso martinis with caramel cream
Winter:
• Peppermint
• Dark chocolate mocha
• Toasted marshmallow cold foam
Spring:
• Honey lavender
• Vanilla bean
Summer:
• Blueberry or raspberry syrup iced lattes (Blueberry syrup in an iced latte is so underrated. It feels like a little farmers market moment in a glass)
• Cold foam everything
Home Coffee Bar Essentials: Everything I Actually Use
If you’re building your own cozy coffee station, these are my must-haves:
Espresso Cups
I love tiny espresso cups, and I also love thrifting them. There’s something about mismatched vintage espresso cups that makes everything feel charming, collected, and intentional.
Plastic Cups for On-the-Go
Clear cups with lids make your iced coffee feel like a café order without leaving the house.
Gold Spoons
This might be dramatic, but stirring espresso with a tiny gold spoon makes it feel fancy.
Appliance Sliding Tray (On My Wish List)
Being able to pull your machine forward easily to refill water or beans would make life so much easier, especially if you make coffee daily.
Stainless Steel Cleaning
Coffee can get messy fast. Stainless steel cleaning supplies is extremely helpful to help keep everything looking polished and organized.
Cozy Mugs
Fun ceramic mugs that actually keep your hands warm in the winter just hit differently.

Home Coffee Bar vs. Daily Starbucks: Is It Worth It?
I am a typical white girl who loves trying new cafés and will always love a brown sugar shaken espresso from Starbucks.
Always.
But here’s what I’ve realized:
Making it at home tastes better.
It’s fresher.
I control the sweetness.
I control the ingredients.
I control the strength.
And financially?
If you buy a $7 coffee:
• 3x per week = $21
• Per month = about $84
• Per year = over $1,000
That’s a vacation.
Or home upgrades.
Or more coffee experiments.
I’ll still go out for fun coffee dates. But daily? My home setup wins.
Why My Coffee Bar Means So Much
It’s five quiet minutes before emails.
It’s creativity.
It’s hosting friends.
It’s testing seasonal flavors.
It’s thrifting espresso cups and trying new syrups.
It’s a small thing that makes everyday life feel cozy and intentional.
And honestly?
That’s exactly what Hannah’s Cozy Workday is about.
