If you’re newly engaged and building your registry, or if you’re like me and have a garage full of beautifully wrapped gifts you haven’t had space for yet, this post is for you.
My husband and I got married in July 2023, and our bridal shower was in April of that same year. At the time, we were living in a 700 square foot apartment with barely enough room to turn around, let alone store a KitchenAid mixer or a fondue pot. Thankfully, we had a garage where we stashed the majority of our gifts, and they sat there waiting patiently for over a year.
When we finally moved into our first home, something unexpected happened. Unpacking those wedding registry items felt like getting to relive my bridal shower all over again. I genuinely got emotional opening things up, remembering the people who gave them to us, thinking about how much had changed between that April afternoon and this new chapter. It was one of the most unexpectedly joyful parts of moving into our first home, and I’m so grateful for every single person who showed up and showed us so much love.
Now that everything finally has a home (literally), I want to share the top 10 wedding registry items I’m using every day in our first home and why, if you’re still on the fence about any of them, they are absolutely worth registering for.
Top 10 Wedding Registry Items Worth Registering For

1. KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer
If there is one item on this entire list that I think every bride deserves, it’s a KitchenAid. This past year alone I used it to make around 8 batches of cookies, including dog-friendly peanut butter treats for our neighbors’ pups. Moving somewhere new and trying to get to know people is no joke, and baked goods go a long way. Cookie dough, bread dough, whipped cream, the KitchenAid handles everything without complaint.
One thing I love about the KitchenAid is how customizable it is. I have the stainless steel attachments and the KitchenAid 5 Quart Ceramic Bowl in Dew Drop, it is so beautiful and adds such a pretty touch to the mixer. One future goal of mine is to get the pasta attachment to make homemade pasta from scratch. That feels very much like a cozy Sunday project waiting to happen.
I also wish I had registered for the splatter guard, it lets you add ingredients while the mixer is running without stopping, which means no more flour clouds exploding all over your counter. If I could go back and add one thing to my registry, that would be it. Consider this your sign to add it to yours!

2. Dutch Oven
If you’ve been following along here, you already know I’m deep in my sourdough era. And a quality Dutch oven is truly non-negotiable for getting that perfect crust. I registered for a cream colored one, and while I love it, I’ll be honest, if I were doing it again I would absolutely go for a color. Cream shows every mark and stain over time, and Dutch ovens come in the most beautiful colors. The green is at the top of my wish list and I think it would look so stunning on any stovetop.
Beyond sourdough, I use it for soups, stews, and anything that needs low and slow heat. It’s one of those pieces that genuinely earns its counter space and will last you forever. Do yourself a favor and register for a color you’ll love looking at every single day, you deserve it!

3. Non-Stick Griddle
This one might be the most underrated item on this entire list. I use our griddle constantly, and I love it because it lets me make multiple things at once without dirtying a million pans (which makes my husband happy who is always on dishes duty). Bacon and pancakes at the same time? Yes. Steak and cheese sandwiches? Absolutely. French toast for a crowd? Easy.
If you cook for more than one person or you simply hate doing dishes (same), this is one of the best first home kitchen essentials to put on your registry. You’ll reach for it more than you expect.

4. Ninja Creami
I’ll be honest, when I registered for this, I thought it might end up being a fun-once-in-a-while appliance. I was so wrong. We use the Ninja Creami regularly for blizzard-style ice cream mix-ins, milkshakes, and smoothies. It is so easy to use and the results genuinely taste like something you’d order out.
If you love Dairy Queen blizzards or fancy smoothie bowls, register for this. It earns its spot on the counter every single time.

5. Vegetable Chopper
This one is such a sleeper hit and I wish more people talked about it. Our chopper comes in various sizes and it is a game changer for everyday cooking. Onions, peppers, veggies for soups, salads, salsa, it cuts prep time in half and keeps everything uniform, which honestly just makes food taste better and look more put together.
If you cook at home regularly, this is one of those wedding registry kitchen items you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.

6. Mixing Bowls
This might sound basic, but a really good set of mixing bowls makes such a difference. I registered for two types: a set with lids for storing and prepping ahead, and a set of larger open bowls that are beautiful enough to use for serving.
I used both sets constantly this past Thanksgiving when we hosted for the first time in our new home. Having bowls that can go from mixing to the table without looking out of place is so practical. Register for both styles if you can, you’ll use them for everything.

7. Fondue Pot
This one is pure tradition in our family, and I love that it now has a home in our house. Growing up, fondue night was always a special occasion, we’d do chicken and steak with various dipping sauces, and everyone would crowd around the table for hours just talking and eating. It’s one of my favorite memories.
Now that we have our own space, we’ve been able to carry that tradition forward. Fair warning though: your house WILL smell for a day or two afterward. Open the windows, light a candle, and embrace it. Completely worth it.

8. Cheese Board Accessories
My family knows I love making boards. Charcuterie, dessert boards, holiday spreads… I love the whole process of building something that looks beautiful and is fun to eat from. When I registered, I went a little overboard (no regrets) on cheese board accessories: different sized boards, little bowls for jams and honey, spreaders, and various holders.
Having the right tools makes the whole thing so much more enjoyable. If you love hosting or entertaining, even casually, register for the fun cheese board pieces. They always get used.

9. Wine Cooler with Adjustable Temperature
This is one of those things I didn’t fully appreciate until I had it. Our wine cooler has the option to change the temperature, which means I can switch things up depending on what we’re drinking, lighter whites and rosés in the summer, fuller reds in the winter. It holds a solid amount of bottles and keeps everything at the perfect temperature without us having to think about it.
If you enjoy wine even casually, I’d really recommend registering for one. It’s functional, it looks great, and it keeps your wine from sitting on the counter at room temperature.

10. OXO Pantry Organizers
If you’ve read my pantry organization post, you already know how much I love OXO products. We registered for several OXO containers and kitchen tools, and they were some of the first things I put to use when we moved in. They’re airtight, they stack beautifully, and they make your pantry feel so intentional.
I’ve written a whole post dedicated to how I use OXO containers in our pantry, check it out here if you want the full breakdown.

Final Thoughts on Wedding Registry Items for Your First Home
If you’re in the middle of registering right now, my biggest piece of advice is to register for the life you’re building toward, not just the space you’re currently in. We were in a tiny apartment when we registered, but we dreamed bigger, and getting to finally open and use all of those wedding registry items in our first home has been one of the sweetest, most meaningful parts of this whole season.
To every person who came to our shower, brought a gift, or simply showed up with love and excitement, thank you. These items live in our home every single day, and every time I use them I think of you. That means more than you know.
